/ How many people can you accommodate?We provide retreat facilities for individuals and for groups up to 53 overnight guests in shared accommodations. Groups are housed in a home-like environment with plenty of space for quiet reflection or break-out groups. Each facility’s web page offers a guide for you to determine whether the accommodations will meet the needs of your group. Our conference room allows for a maximum of 49 people.
Can you accommodate me in my wheelchair?We are not ADA compliant. We invite you to view the images on our facilities web pages and come for a tour to determine if our facilities will meet your needs.
Do you have a large meeting space?Our Conference Room is limited to 49 people. The great rooms in both Annunciation Hall and Visitation Hall are also well-used as meeting spaces in a home-like atmosphere.
Do you offer Spiritual Direction?We can refer you to spiritual directors in the local community who can meet with you at El Tesoro. We do not mediate between an individual or group and a spiritual director. We simply rent facilities for our guests to bring their programs and their own director, minister, or priest.
Can we celebrate Mass? We will reserve the chapel for your group’s celebration of Mass, Adoration, or Reconciliation on a first-come-first-serve basis. We provide the basic necessities; groups need to provide their own wine and celebrant.
Is there an additional charge for using the chapel? The chapel is open and available for the free use of our guests. It is not open to the general public.
What are your rates? Please call for information regarding our rates. We offer regular and non-profit rates.
Do you serve meals?No, El Tesoro provides kitchens and outdoor grills for guests to use. Individuals and groups bring their own food.
Can you recommend caterers? We provide our guests with a Preferred Caterers List and do not mediate between you and the caterer. These caterers are local and frequently provide meals here at El Tesoro. Our guests are certainly welcome to hire a caterer not on our list.
Can we have a campfire? No, we do not allow any use of fire on our property. Our retreat center is located in a forest bordered by homes and the Pike National Forest, so we must stand firm on this safety policy.
Can we smoke? No, smoking is not allowed on the property.
Can we bring alcohol? ETRC does not provide alcohol, nor is it responsible for guests’ consumption of alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is prohibited when retreats have youth participation.
Is there a curfew for noise? Yes, a county ordinance requires amplification turned off no later than 10:00pm.
Do you have El Tesoro clothing/items for sale? We have t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and ¼ zip sweatshirts and hoodies available for purchase as well as journals and pens, Catholic Catechisms, crucifixes, and a few other gift items. Our gift shop is located in St. Mary Hall.
Can we come for a tour? The best days for a tour are Tuesday through Thursday when the facilities are most likely available to be visited. Other days are possible as well. Please call ahead to schedule a tour.
Can I bring my dog? No, pets are not allowed on the property.
Do we have to bring our own hairdryers and toiletries? Yes.
Who owns this retreat center? ETRC is a privately owned retreat center funded by the Nuestra Señora de la Paz Foundation.
Do you host weddings and/or receptions? No, we are not a venue for weddings or receptions.
How long has this retreat center been open? The first retreat gathered here on Labor Day weekend in 2003.
Do you have to be Catholic to come here? We are a Catholic ecumenical retreat center welcoming all people who seek a quiet place to reflect, revitalize, and reconnect with God.
Can I come just for the day? All guests on the property must check in with our office at St. Mary Hall and must be paying guests. Day use of our conference room or Visitation Hall Great Room will grant you the use of the property and our sacred spaces.
Can I bring my spouse for a weekend get-away? We welcome and encourage couples to refresh their marital relationships with a stay at our Seraphim Hermitages where there is no Wi-Fi or televisions.
Are the roads plowed in winter? When needed, our maintenance crew plows the roads on our property on a daily basis.
